Standard Chartered Bank - Sustainability - Great Place to Work

Great Place to Work

Diversity and inclusion - building on our natural strengths

At Standard Chartered, we are committed to creating an engaging, inclusive work environment - a place where people can make a difference both as individuals and as part of a team.

Faced with demographic change, competition in our markets and our own rapid growth, the challenge to attract, engage and develop talented employees has never been greater.

To make Standard Chartered a great place to work, we focus on four key commitments:

  • To attract, engage and retain talented employees.
  • To develop individuals and teams by focusing on their personal strengths.
  • To develop exceptional managers who engage their people.
  • To create a diverse and inclusive workplace that encourages employees to achieve their full potential.

Standard Chartered has committed Seeing is Believing - "A New Vision," as the Bank's sole commitment to Clinton Global Initiative for 2008.
In brief, our 2008 commitment promises to:

  • Reduce the number of people living with avoidable blindness by establishing sustainable and scalable primary eye care services across 20 cities in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
  • Provide financially and socially sustainable eye care systems to reduce avoidable blindness through interventions and improved eye healthcare. The eye care services established by the program will also help educate and empower some of the most deprived urban populations.
  • Target eye care services to at least 20 million people.
